Diner en Blanc Melbourne 2018 was my first time at the all white event. But it certainly won’t be my last. With the concept originating in Paris 30 years ago, it now takes place in over 70 cities across the world debuting in Melbourne in 2015.
For those of you wondering “What the eff is Diner en Blanc?”, here’s a quick download for you.
It’s an invite only, pop up dinner in a secret public space where everyone’s dressed in their most elegant white ensembles. Guests bring their own food, tables, chairs and tableclothes to enjoy each others company, food and a few champa’s.
This year our sea of white swarmed to the Carlton Gardens where the Melbourne Museum and Royal Exhibition Building created a powerful background for a beautiful night of fun, food and frivolity.
I ate, drank and danced the night away in a stunning Self Portrait dress that I hired from the lovely ladies at Dress Hire AU. It was the perfect mix of no fuss romance, with a full skirt of box pleats broken up by floral lace. Need I say more?
For any of you who have considered going to Diner en Blanc, you get a big fat YES from me. I’ll see you there babe.

bassike has to have the best basics in town, and they’re Resort 2017 collection is another assembly of winning staples and some super special pieces.
Set in a background of palm trees and cacti, they’ve created a range that screams uber cool at the same time as knowing that comfort is king through easy cotton and lightweight crepe.
Matching separates, palm tree printed tees, and striped cotton shirts are mixed in with statement black dresses and cinched in waists. I do love me a white shirt and they’ve provided the goods with the bassike take on this mandatory item.
The no brainers for me are the Gathered Sleeve Dress (worn & hemmed shorter
by Elle Ferguson which was perfection), the Palm Print T-Shirt and
the Tie Front Cropped Bodice for some extra sass.
Do yourself a favour and update your go-tos with some freshies from this collection. I know I will.

Aje’s new collection ‘Drogheda’ is giving me and my wandering heart all of the feels.
Gaining inspiration from the classic Australian novel set in the outback ‘The Thornbirds’ by Colleen McCullogh, they’ve captured an effortless cool that’s free flowing at its core yet with some structured aspects to create a truly Aje aesthetic collection.
Bright white pieces are weaved throughout black embellishment, cherry red separates and a rose and thorn bird print that’s oh so intricate yet completely powerful. I’m a sucker for any floral, yet this takes it to a whole other level of playful sophistication.
I am in absolute love with each and every piece (and would take them all with open arms), however the items that BELONG in my wardrobe are the Billa Crop Top, the Mary Dress and the Le Corsaire Broderie Blouse.
Seriously, get on board peeps before they’re all gone. You can thank me later.
